Its still very early days yet, but there are a few events that we know we will do again based on their success at TimeGate 2008. Here's a quick sampling of some of the things you'll find at TimeGate 2009. [This page will be updated as new events get added.]
If you have questions about Programming or would like to suggest an event, or would like to appear at a guest at TimeGate, please contact the Programming Director.
MASQUERADE
Costumers, show off your handiwork in our Masquerade! We have three categories for entry: Doctor Who, Stargate and Other. You can pick up an entry form at the Registration desk. The Masquerade is always a great deal of fun and is a great opportunity to see fans' devotion to their favourite shows come to life! Costumers of all levels are invited to participate in the Masquerade.
CABARET
Our Cabaret in 2008 was a big success. Not only were the acts terrific, we raised a lot of money for Habitat For Humanity! Again this year we will be producing a cabaret in which our Guests will be performing songs, comedy, skits, and readings. Admission to this event is $5, all monies go to charity.
GUESTS OF HONOR Q&A
Our guests of honor will be making appearances throughout the weekend to answer your questions. Once our GoHs are confirmed and announced for 2009, we'll be able to give more information about this. The Guest of Honor Q&As will take place fairly early on Saturday afternoon. Pictured at right is John Levene during his GoH Q&A at TimeGate 2008.
TIMEGATE TEAM TRIVIA COMPETITION
A staple ever since its debut at the second one-day TimeGate back in 2006, our very own Adam Levenstein leads teams of four through an Olympic-level contest of knowledge. You think you know your sci-fi? Enter your team and put your knowledge to the test!
LIVE MUSIC
We will once again have local rock band Hyperdrive doing an acoustic set in the lobby one night. If you have a band or musical act and would be interested in playing TimeGate (only acoustic acts, please), contact Alan.
There's a great deal more to come! In 2008 we had performances from local theatre groups, a DVD world premiere, signings and readings by guests and authors, tons of gaming tournament of all types, events in our Con Suite (including a dessert night and a tradition English tea to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of Doctor Who), and lots of other stuff. Stay tuned for more!
